Assessing your own playing level is not always easy—some people underestimate their beach volleyball playing level, while others overestimate it. If you are unsure about how to assess your playing level, please take a look at the following classifications and descriptions. This may make it easier for you to assess your own level.

beginners

B1

Except for a few hours at school or during your last beach vacation, you have little or no experience with the movements involved in volleyball/beach volleyball. During training, you will learn and practice the basic techniques of "digging" and "setting." You will also learn the basics of 2:2 play.

B2

You have already gained some initial experience in volleyball/beach volleyball and have completed a few training sessions. You already know the basic techniques, but still have difficulty applying them flawlessly. In training, you will learn how to "dig" and "set" more confidently under time pressure, as well as the technical sequences for serving and attacking.

Medium

M1

You have already gained experience in the movements involved in volleyball/beach volleyball through regular training sessions and have mastered the serve, the basic techniques, and the build-up play in simple situations without making any mistakes. You have prior knowledge and experience of attacking while jumping.

M2

You have mastered the basic techniques and game structure even under difficult playing conditions and are able to attack every ball in mid-air. In training, you work on your playing ability in game-like exercises and receive tips on how to make your game structure and attacking play more versatile. The overhead serve is intensified and expanded in terms of technique and tactics.

ADVANCED

A1

Even under difficult conditions, you have mastered all the basic techniques and various variations of play. You can distinguish between "shots" and "hits" in attack and use them correctly and in a controlled manner depending on the situation. In training, you learn how to solve difficult situations with ease.

A2

You have mastered all aspects of beach volleyball and only need training to play more efficiently. You will work on expanding your individual tactical repertoire and finding solutions in all techniques. You will also learn how to adapt your tactics and strategies to your opponent's game.
